Hi! I'm Christine Hamre, owner of Gingersnap Vegan Bakery. I'm a MN native and I've lived in Moorhead pretty much since I can remember. I consider Moorhead my hometown. I've enjoyed baking all my life, and I've never met a recipe I didn't want to tweak! Developing recipes and baking for others makes me happy. I especially love to see the reaction of people who aren't vegan or gluten free when they discover how delicious my baked goods are (I swear, if you don't tell them, they'd never know)!
Many people have asked how I decided on the name "Gingersnap" for my bakery. When I was brainstorming business names, nothing seemed quite right. But when "Gingersnap" popped into my head, I knew immediately that it was the perfect name for my bakery! My grandma was a very special person in my life. I spent a lot of time with her and have many fond memories to look back on. Like many grandmas, she was often found n her kitchen, cooking and baking for others. She was best known for her ginger cookies. She always seemed to have a fresh batch made and ready to give to family, friends, and neighbors. So the name "Gingersnap" is a tribute to her.Â
